Fiskadoro by Denis Johnson

This book starts many years after the war. So many years that only one person actually remembers it. Yet it feels like its set at the beginning and time. Its the alpha and the omega.

On the Beach by Nevil Shute

So the war was fought among the Northern Hemisphere. The people in the south (Australia) are just waiting for the radioactive fall out to be blown in and kill them all. How would that make you feel?

Not with a bang but a whimper.

War Day by Whitley Strieber and James Kunetka

Easily the best book Whitley Strieber’s ever been involved with. 2 writers decide to trek across the United States 5 years after the bombs have fallen. What is left?
